Episode 157: Anthony Simmons presents his View from the Australia Desk

The boys have asked Anthony “The Infrequent Flyer” Simmons to fill in for them with an Australia Desk while they’re at Oshkosh 2011. Despite having to first clean out the studio, he throws out all the instructions and presents his View from the Australia Desk, covering the following aviation news items from Down Under:

    • Tiger Airways have been issued a Show Cause notice from CASA which is likely to lead to their grounding, with some analysts noting that the Australian market cannot support more than two airlines.
    • Air New Zealand are planning to launch a low-cost carrier of their own, Fly Kiwi, flying from Auckland, Christchurch & Wellington to major cities on Australia’s Eastern seaboard, although most consider it to have zero chance of getting off the ground.
