Episode 68: It’s torches and pitchforks as Qantas shareholders prepare for the AGM

Grant’s been meeting with a bunch of Qantas shareholders preparing for the Qantas Annual General Meeting and they’re not happy, with torches and pitchforks being made ready for the big event that this year is being held in Perth. Retreating to a handy wombat hole, Grant joins Steve to discuss:

  • Shareholder analysis groups are recommending that Qantas shareholders vote NO for the executive remuneration plan.
  • Air New Zealand had a computer system meltdown on the last day of the school holidays leading to complete chaos. Amazingly, staff volunteered to come to airports and help with processing passengers and getting aircraft flying. What other airline could say that?
  • Rob Fyfe, CEO of Air New Zealand, has commented on regulatory change for greener skies and slammed other airline groups for not getting on with saving the environment, especially Emirates.
