Episode 231: You picked a fine time to leave me, loose wheel…

Steve thought he could move this week’s OzDesk recording to Monday but whoops, Grant’s working and isn’t available. Despite that, Steve manages to cover a few news items, including:

  • A China Southern student pilot operating a solo flight with Moorabbin Aviation Services (aka Australian National Airline College) at Mangalore Airport had to make an emergency landing after a main wheel fell off the Piper Warrior he was flying. The whole landing was captured on video and all ended well for the student pilot.
  • Virgin Australia has switched over from Navitaire to the Sabre booking system and also switched their airline code from DJ to VA.
  • The RAAF’s Chief of Air Force (CAF), Air Marshal Geoff Brown, announced the re-establishment of 35SQN to fly the C-27J Spartan, a battlefield airlifter.
