Grant’s hauled himself to the microphone to record despite having a nasty cough & sore throat but the show must go on:

  • Air New Zealand may be going to buy a chunk of Virgin Blue shares over & above their planned Trans-Tasman alliance
  • There’s a delay in change to Virgin Blue’s name & relaunch due to issues with the Virgin Group (as opposed to Singapore Airlines as you might think)
  • Qantas Group to get 15 787s starting with some 787-8s early in 2012 then some 787-9s in 2014 despite indications that ANA’s delivery date is likely to slip beyond 2010
  • Qantas to use their initial 787s in Jetstar to push into new markets, probably basing them in Singapore
  • Regional Express (REX) voted as top regional airline in the world by Aviation Week & Space Technology magazine based on publicly available financial information
  • Possible fuel strike by the Transport Workers Union may hit some airports in the next week
  • Chance that Indonesia’s Lion Air may start flying in Australia
